  1. Vince Meconi’s Allies (-2.0) bested Richard Beyma’s Axis. We have played previously. The dice gods decided to intervene early when Richard sent the German fleet to the North Sea on T1 against a carrier and 5×444. When the smoke cleared, 4 German ships were sunk vs. 3 Allied BBs on the bottom, but worse for the Axis, the Allies won the area. Thus, POC was even after the bid at turn’s end. Despite playing with this huge disadvantage, Richard made a game of it. His LBA and U-boats chipped away at the Allied fleet, but could not prevent Convoy 1A from landing on T4, pushing the Allied lead to 3 after the bid. The best Axis turn was T5 when the Germans took the Barents, sinking Convoy 2B and the Ark Royal and narrowing the Allied lead to 1 POC after the bid. However, at turn’s end the Axis were down to 4 Germans (GZ, 496, 225, 127) and one Italian 117. Even though the Allies themselves had lost 17 ships, their ASW was just lucky enough to prevent the full-strength U-boats from stopping Convoy 3C in the N. Atlantic on T6 or in the Barents on T7. The LBA missed on T7 as well. When that Convoy landed, the Allied lead of 4 POC after the bid was too much for the remaining Axis forces to overcome, and the Axis resigned.

  2. I have defeated Michael Ussary in out match. I got all 3 convoys to Russia to clich it.

  3. Chet Makuch’s Axis are victorious over Daniel Blumentritt’s Allies, who paid 1.5 POC to be demolished. I tried a delayed Med strategy that failed when he pushed into a huge 50/50 North Sea battle and won – losing all three 225s but sinking 5 BB and 1 CV and crippling a 6th BB.

I pushed on ahead knowing I’d have takeover coming on Turn 8, but on Turn 7 he disabled my Convoy which meant I was mathematically locked out once the Russians failed to leave port for Turn 8 (but since they’d have had to beat 6 German units anyway, my odds were miniscule regardless).

  4. Andy Choptiany-Allies (Bid 2 POC) defeated Karl Bodenheimer’s Axis after a hard fought
game resolved on T8 in the Bts. Sea. The Allies won by 6 POC after the bid. We have played before.

  5. Hilton McManus’ Allies conceded to Jim Bodenheimer’s Axis at the beginning of turn 8 with Axis having a POC of 5 before bid of 1. The Allies opened in turn 1 with a Med Gambit. While the Allies sank DiCavour and Doria losing only Royal Sov, they suffered many disables and the score was Axis 2. In turn 2 the Allies pressed the Italians but again were pushed back, losing Ramilies, Revenge and Kent vice Littorio. POC 4 Axis. In turn 3 the Allies succeeded in controlling the Med and sinking Vittorio and Cesare. POC 3 Axis. Turn 4 the Allies had to move firepower to the Barents to successfully land Convoy 1A. The Axis seized control of the North Sea while sinking Courageous, Queen Elizabeth I, Royal Oak, Malaya, Resolution, & Valiant while only losing Blucher. This sink the allied and disable the Axis became the norm. POC 4 Axis. Turn 5 saw the Axis again take the North Sea while the Allies took the Med back and landed Convoy 2B. The Allies won the Med as well. Allies lost Eagle, Glorius, Suffolk, Cumberland, and Victorious while the Axis lost Duilio & Pola. POC 1 Axis. Turn 6 saw the Axis going into the North Atlantic and crushing the American fleet while sinking the last convoy. were lost. Allies lost Washington, New York, Tuscaloosas, and their convoy against Eugen and Spee. POC 5 Axis. In turn 7 the Axis sat back, made repairs, and held the line, no change in POC. The only excitement was the sinking of 4 UBoats which left 2 to keep the North Sea open for turn 8. Starting into turn 8 the Allies received Impero and the Axis got Gorizia and Fiume. Zara and Roma were scuttled. The dice were against the Allies throughout, only allowing 3 German ship sunk over 7 turns. Interesting to see the Med Gambit come close.

  6. Avi Solomon (Allies with a bid of 1.5 POC) ended up on 6 POC against Ken Pascoe, who had the worse of the luck. The Allies won by 4.5 POC and we have played before.

  7. Bruce Monnin’s Allies defeated Tal Seaman’s Axis.

Bruce bid 1 for the Allies. The Allies won a battle in the North Sea on Turn 1, and then held the blockade throughout the game with strong ASW rolls.

Tal conceded after on Turn 7 with Bruce’ Allies ahead by 9 POC at the time.

  8. I just finished a game with Bob Hamel, who had the Allies for a bid of 1.0 POC, while I (Mark Booth) had the Axis. Let the record show that Bob did all he could against overwhelming odds brought about by poor dice luck. In the first 3 turns, the Axis won control of the North Atlantic twice and the North Sea once—and in doing so the Axis lost only two 1-2-7 ships—despite facing plenty of UK ships—while the Allies lost 11 ships (including 3 CVs).

On Turn 1 the Axis successfully speed rolled three 2-2-5’s to the North Atlantic, joining its four 7-speed ships, both taking the sea zone and sinking 3 UK ships, including a CV, while losing just one ship. The Axis then contested the North Sea on Turn 2, and the combat results were overwhelmingly in favor of the Axis, which sank 5 UK ships while losing just 1 ship in return. The hollowed-out UK Navy and a hole in the blockade allowed the German Navy to sail for the North Atlantic on Turn 3, with a banged-up fleet that had all 6 available ships–three 5-speed and three 6-speed—making their speed rolls (quite unlikely). Three more UK ship losses there, versus none for the Germans, left the Allies with insufficient strength to both guard the convoys and protect the perimeter, and Bob resigned after Turn 5.

  9. In 1-13, Tim’s Allies led at the end of turn 4 with +4 POC Allied before the bid of 1.0 for the Allies when Greg’s Axis conceded.

An Axis foray into the South Atlantic ended with the German fleet split between the Neutral Port and Germany. Turn 2 saw the British hold all 4 Northern Sea areas and punish the Axis fleet in the South Atlantic. Turn 3 saw no casualties but the British again held the Atlantic and then turn 4 saw a decisive Allied victory in the SOATL, landing of the 1st convoy in Russia, and holding all 4 Northen sea areas by the allies, leading to an Axis concession.

    Thanks for playing Greg!

  10. Lee Kendter (Axis) vs Tom Thorsen (Allies, 1.5 Bid)

T1 – Allies go to the Med hard. I ignore the Ned. Subs break control of NAtl. Germany sails to SAtl along with the Italian CA. The Italians save SAtl sinking 2 CA, Nelson, and Couragous. All Axis kills were from Italy. The Germans only got some disables. The fight was tight, and could have broke either way. I lost 2 Ger CA. PoC to +4 for Axis, with a weak kill ratio. 3 Germans sitting in SAtl.

T2 – I send everything surface, and all subs, to NSea. The Italians go back to the Med which UK gave up on. A pair of PB take the NSea. The battle was disable heavy, and neither side lost a ship. PoC to +7.

T3 – The sub count is to light, and they hide in the Baltic. I send all surface to Barents. This fight goes 100% my way sinking Ark, Hood, Prince and a CA. Poc to +8.

T4 – Is a repair turn. I repaired 3, just to have his LBA damage 2 repaired ships. My LBA sinks Convoy 1A. NSea is broken by subs.
At this point Tom resigned. I agree with his decision. With a convoy sunk, my high PoC, and good kill ratio, his hole is to deep to recover from.

  11. Jim Kramer (allies – bid 1.5 POC) has defeated Erica Snarski (axis).

T1: Jim opened with a modified Barents in 1 sending and succeeding getting 3 4-4-4 BB’s to the Barents. The remaining allied forces were used to defend NA, SA and NS. Erica responded with standard Italian MED patrols, a CA in the Baltic and the remaining German forces (3 subs, LBA, 6 ships) to the Barents. Allied LBA missed in the MED. Barents ASW sank 1 sub and disabled another. The axis sub damages a 4-4-4 for 3. Axis LBA disables another. Surface combat sees Scharnhorst sunk with a 4-4-4 sunk and the previously damaged 4-4-4 disabled. Axis up 2 POC on the turn, game score +2.

T2: Allies send 5 CA, Ark Royal, Hood, KGV, POW, Repulse and Renown to the Barents with all speed rolls successful. NA: 2 5-5-3, 2 4-4-3 and a CV. SA: 2 4-4-4, a CA and Eagle. NS: 5 BB, 3 CA, 2 CV. Axis patrol MED as before. Lutzow patrols the Baltic, LBA to the Barents and the remaining forces (3 subs and the remaining 7 ships). Speed rolls were successful. Allied LBA miss again in the MED. Axis LBA disabled Hood in the Barents. NA ASW sinks all 3 subs. Allied NA carrier strikes unsuccessful. Surface action sees the allies sink a 2-2-5 and a 1-2-7, disabling a 2-2-5 and damaging and disabling Bismarck and Gneisenau. Axis return fire sinks a 5-5-3 and a 4-4-3. The other 3 ships (2 BB and the CV) are damaged and disabled. Axis gain 3 POC to +5 game score.

T3: No Soviet ships sail. Allies send 5 CA, Hood, Ark Royal, 3 4-5-6 and 2 3-3-6 to the Barents. NA has convoy and 2 CV. SA has 3 4-4-4 and Eagle. NS has 5 BB, 3 CA and a CV. A BB and CV are repaired in England. Axis defend the MED as before and send the German fleet to the Baltic, LBA to the Barents and Repair Bismarck and Gneisenau. Allied LBA sink an Italina CA. Axis LBA cripples Ark Royal. Allies gain a POC on the turn with game score reduced to +4 axis. Convoy 1A moves to the Barents.

T4: No US/USSR help. Allied Barents convoy, Hood, 3 CA, 4 4-5-6, 2 3-3-6 and a CV. NA: Convoy 2B and 2 CV. SA: 3 4-4-4 and Eagle. NS: 5 BB, 5 CA and a CV. Erica sends the LBA to the Barents, A CA to the Baltic and the remaining Germans to the NS (3 subs, 2 BB, 1 BC, 2 PB, 1 CA, 1 CV) Italians stay in the MED. Allied LBA miss, axis LBA damage convoy 1A and Repulse. Allied ASW sink a sub and disable another. Axis sub misses. Air strikes by both sides damage a BB and disable another. In surface fire the allies sink the remaining BB, the BC, both PB and cripple the CV. Axis return fire sink 2 BB and disable 1. With such a one-sided result and the convoy getting to Russia (allies gain 3 POC) Erica chose to resign at this time.

Strong allied ASW and surface fire were key in the win.

  12. Quick write up Match 6. Allies had great dice, Axis did poorly getting hammered in Med in t1, with no success of U boats. He resigned at start of t3. I bid 1 for the allies
